World Congress on Art Deco Partners Meeting

Please mark your calendars for an important meeting at 9:00 am Thursday morning September 22 at the Art Deco Welcome Center, 1001 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach. (Valet parking, coffee and pastries included!)

In April 2023, Miami Design Preservation League will host the World Congress on Art Deco, a week-long event that will show the World the unique architecture of Miami Beach and Miami. We expect that 150-200 Art Deco enthusiasts from around the globe will descend on Miami Beach for this important event, which will generate significant press coverage in their home countries, states and cities.

The first World Congress was held in Miami Beach in 1991. It was conceived by our founder, Barbara Baer Capitman, who unfortunately passed away before it took place. Since then, the World Congress has been held in a different city around the globe every 2 years. The International Coalition of Art Deco Societies has designated Miami Beach as host of the 2023 Congress. Fittingly, we will be the first city to host it twice!

We at MDPL have been working tirelessly for 2 years to prepare for the World Congress. Many of you have helped in this effort. On September 22, we will share our plans with you and give you the opportunity to become a part of this event.

We look forward to partnering with you. We want your participation and your ideas. It’s been 30 years since the World Congress came to Miami Beach, and it will likely be another 30 years before we host it again. Seize the opportunity now to become involved in this important event.
