The Guajiro Triangle

IPC ArtSpace

Thu, October 20th @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

The Guajiro Triangle is a concept that describes the migration of Son Montuno, a genre of music that fuses African and Spanish influences, as a story of three cities: Santiago de Cuba, Havana, and Miami. This musical journey led to the creation of the folk and country music group Cortadito, founded by producer and Grammy-nominated musician Jose Elias. Listen and learn as Cortadito connects these cities through their contemporary interpretation of a tradition that goes back to the late 19th century.

Co-presented with IPC ArtSpace, Miami Soundscapes, and The Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab.
