Join us on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. to meet Woody Vondracek, the Deco artist, as he presents a retrospective examining the graphics and posters he produced during the formative years of Miami Beach’s Art Deco preservation efforts. In 1977, as Miami Beach’s Art Deco architecture faced increasing threats, Vondracek, an aircraft mechanic, began creating his art that illustrated the importance and beauty of buildings in South Beach. His graphics and poster work, created in close association with the Miami Design Preservation League, became widely recognized for their role in raising public awareness and advancing the campaign that ultimately secured national historic designation for the Art Deco Historic District.
