William Randolph Hearst, notorious “father of yellow journalism,” revolutionized news with sensationalist headlines crafted to grab attention and sell papers. His decades-old tactics still shape today’s media, from clickbait to the rise of disinformation. Inspired by our installation HEARST: Lampooning the King of Yellow Journalism, this timely panel discussion features the director of FIU’s Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media, Susan Jacobson, and Wolfsonian chief librarian Francis Luca. Together, they’ll uncover the striking parallels between the media landscapes of Hearst’s era and today.
