The Parks and Recreation Department invites you to celebrate Black History Month by recognizing the heritage, accomplishments, and culture of African Americans. Enjoy cultural performances from the city’s after-school participants, entertainment, rides, food, crafts, and more.
To kick off the event, the city’s Black Affairs Advisory Committee will be recognizing DeAnne Connolly Graham as the 2023 Black History Month Community Member Award for Public Service. The posthumous award will be presented to recognize DeAnne as she was the essence of community and a champion in supporting Miami Beach businesses and professional women around South Florida. DeAnne was a highly valued member of the Miami Beach community as the CEO of ROI Media Consultants, Vice-Chair of the Black Affairs Advisory Board, Chair of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Women’s Business Council, and former Chair of the Pillar Trustees for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.
