On November 21, 2024, the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), in collaboration with the Art Deco Neighborhood Association and the Cardozo Hotel’s Call Me Cuban, hosted a memorable Culture Crawl event celebrating the legacy of architect Henry Hohauser.

The evening commenced at the Art Deco Museum with a curator-led tour of the new Henry Hohauser exhibit, offering insights into his significant contributions to Miami Beach’s architectural landscape. The exhibit is open daily 9am-5pm, with free admission for Miami-Dade Residents and MDPL members, and $7 general admission.

Attendees then embarked on a guided walking tour along Ocean Drive, exploring Hohauser’s iconic designs between 10th and 15th Streets. These include the Edison Hotel, the Congress, Cardozo, Penguin, and Crescent.

On the way to the Cardozo, attendees stopped by the WWII exhibit that is on 11th and Ocean Drive.

The event concluded with a community social at the historic Cardozo Hotel, where participants enjoyed drinks and bites, fostering a deeper appreciation for Miami Beach’s rich Art Deco heritage.

We are thankful to Call Me Cuban and the Cardozo Hotel for hosting the event!
