On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Lea Nickless spoke at the Jewish Museum of Florida for the 16th World Congress on Art Deco lecture series.
In her lecture, Nickless discusses the Art Deco pieces featured at The Wolfsonian–FIU. The museum’s Art Deco collection spans from 1850 to 1950.
She also discusses Art Deco preservation in South Beach and the origins of the Wolfsonian building, which was originally the Washington Storage Building.
Lea Nickless serves as a curator at The Wolfsonian–FIU, having worked closely with founder Micky Wolfson for more than thirty years assisting in building the collection, developing educational programming, managing collections, and researching collection materials.
More recently she curated the exhibitions Plotting Power: Maps and the Modern Age and Aerial Vision and co-curated the exhibition A Universe of Things: Micky Wolfson Collects.
She served as editor, writer, and researcher for the Scala publication Founder’s Choice. She holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Scripps College and is a multimedia artist in her own right.
