Silhouettes: Harlem Renaissance Exhibition Launches at The Wolfsonian-FIU

The flourishing of literary, visual, and musical arts between the 1920s and ’40s known as the Harlem Renaissance, brought forth an artistic movement debuting black culture to the rest of the world. 

Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissance considers the role of art in this movement, showcasing photographs of iconic celebrities such as Billie Holiday and Earl Jones, paintings, poetry, sculptures, music, and prints —“pieces that challenge demeaning stereotypes and asserted African Americans’ capacity for self-determination.”—Wolfsonian FIU

The Wolfsonian is located at 1001 Washington Avenue and is open Wednesday – Sunday: 10 am-6 pm (and Friday to 9 pm)

Admission is free for State of Florida residents, and free for ALL during Art Week 

General Admission: $12 / Seniors, students with ID, and children 6-18: $8.
