MDPL was recently featured in an episode of PBS’ documentary series “Florida Road Trip” focused on Miami Beach’s unique history.

The segment spotlights the Historic Art Deco District and the preservation efforts of MDPL founder, Barbara Baer Capitman.

Through her work, Miami Beach became known for having the largest concentration of tropical Art Deco in the world.

“We see Art Deco as kind of defining the brand of Miami Beach, and not just Miami Beach but the region – the postcard of South Florida,” says MDPL Executive Director Daniel Ciraldo in the documentary.

“Ocean Drive and our Art Deco really, I think, helps to define who we are. it’s that unique DNA that makes us a very special place to visit. We don’t look like every other coastal town because we have that history… The tropical historic fabric that makes this, I think, a draw to many people.”
