Connecting Concrete: Modernist Architecture from Havana to Miami, with photographs by Silvia Ros, showcases the poetic beauty of concrete architecture in Havana, Cuba and South Florida. This exhibition, curated and designed by Tim Hossler, features photographs of significant concrete structures from both cities. It highlights how these cities, despite their distinct cultural and historical backgrounds, share a common thread of embracing concrete as a canvas for artistic expression.

About the Speaker:
Tim Hossler – Designer, Educator, Curator, and Author
As the former in-house art director for photographer Annie Leibovitz, Tim Hossler helped Ms. Leibovitz create her most memorable images, books, and exhibitions of the late 1990’s through the early 2000’s. His work with Leibovitz included her 1999 book, Women, co-authored with Susan Sontag. He holds a degree in Architecture from Kansas State University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
He was the Director of Design at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) and the Art Director of The Wolfsonian–Florida International University in Miami Beach before moving back to his home state of Kansas in 2011. At the University of Kansas, He currently teaches courses on design history & professional ethics. His academic research includes the exploration of visual culture’s role in defining time and place. He has designed award-winning books for The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, The Detroit Institute of Arts, Cranbrook Art Museum, artist Spencer Finch, and fashion photographer Tim Walker.
He has been a frequent collaborator with Miami-based photographer Silvia Ros for almost 20 years since their time working together at The Wolfsonian-FIU. For their latest project, he has designed and curated the exhibition Connecting Concrete: Havana to Miami.
