Posters from our Andy Sweet Collection

Read Time: < 1 min

Andy Sweet was a gifted photographer who documented the residents of South Beach with his associate Gary Monroe from 1977 – 1982. In 1982, Andy Sweet’s life was tragically cut short when he was murdered. Shown are two posters from our Andy Sweet Collection donated by Andy’s mother, Audrey Sweet, back in the year 2000. Both posters were advertising exhibits for Andy Sweet and Gary Monroes’s photographic work in the years 1979 & 1980.

For those who haven’t yet seen the moving documentary “The Last Resort” about Andy Sweet’s work, you can still catch it on Netflix. In 2018, the book entitled “Shtetl in the Sun; Andy Sweet’s South Beach 1977-1980”, containing dozens of his bold colorful and unconventional photographs was published.

What would Miami Beach be like without Historic Art Deco, Mediterranean, and MiMo buildings?
