The Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) is pleased to announce that Meg Lousteau has been selected as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective Nov. 17, 2025.
Meg brings over two decades of leadership experience in historic preservation, community advocacy and public service to Miami Beach. In New Orleans she was Executive Director of the Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents, & Associates, a neighborhood advocacy group with a nearly 90-year legacy of protecting and preserving the city’s French Quarter.
She was also the Associate Field Director for the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Houston Field Office. Most recently, she served as the Director of the Cultural Resources Office in the City of St. Louis.
Throughout her career, Meg has led initiatives in historic preservation and land use policy, community outreach, neighborhood revitalization and civic engagement. Her accomplishments include creating innovative programming, leading advocacy campaigns, and strengthening partnerships among citizens, organizations and government.
“Being chosen as the next Executive Director of the Miami Design Preservation League is an incredible honor. I’m passionate about safeguarding Miami Beach’s historic architecture and the one-of-a-kind culture it inspires, and ensuring this legacy continues to thrive for generations to come,” Meg said.
She understands the delicate balance among heritage, livability and tourism — insight that will greatly support the work of MDPL, which has strong ties to non-profit and government entities in the city, region and state.
As we welcome Meg, we also extend our deep gratitude to George T. Neary, our Interim Executive Director who has led MDPL with indefatigable dedication since April of this year, always eager to build bridges between MDPLand neighboring organizations, experts and businesses. During his tenure, George has led our organization with the same fiery passion he had when he first came to MDPL roughly 30 years ago.
