What We Do

What we fight for

Miami Beach is one of the most architecturally distinctive places on earth — and that didn’t happen by accident. It happened because people showed up, spoke out, and refused to let it disappear.

MDPL’s advocacy program works to shape the policies, decisions, and processes that determine what gets preserved and what gets lost. We engage with city government, support residents and property owners, and push for the protections that keep Miami Beach’s historic districts — and the stories they hold — intact.

From individual buildings to entire neighborhoods, we advocate at every level: local, state, and national. Because what happens here matters far beyond these few square miles.

Advocacy Positions

Protecting Miami Beach’s architectural soul — one hearing at a time. Dig into the official record — designation reports, agendas, and meeting schedules.

Miami Design Preservation League has an Advocacy Committee that meets monthly to discuss current historic preservation issues in the City of Miami Beach and surrounding areas. A representative of the MDPL Advocacy Committee attends the Miami Beach Historic Preservation Board meeting each month.
