An event especially for Art Deco and movie buffs!
Join us on Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. for a special lecture: “Movie Lover’s Guide to Miami Beach” with Joel Levine — former chair of the Miami Design Preservation League Board and an esteemed MDPL tour guide and historian.
Levine will take us on a cinematic journey through local film and TV locations — from Scarface at the Carlyle Hotel to Miami Vice at the Hotel Edison, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective at the Tides South Beach, and The Birdcage at the Raleigh’s famous scalloped pool.
These scenes aren’t just entertainment — they capture the spirit and style of Miami Beach through the decades. Based on his popular walking tour, Levine’s lecture will explore the rich history of Art Deco and the city’s film legacy through curated clips and behind-the-scenes stories.
Don’t miss this nostalgic and fascinating evening that is part of the Miami Beach Culture Crawl, which takes place every third Thursday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. Cultural institutions on Miami Beach offer events free of charge.
