One part of MDPL's mission is "promoting the cultural, social, economic, environmental and architectural integrity of the Miami Beach Architectural Historic District and all other areas of the City of Miami Beach where historic preservation is a concern."

To that end, we offer a number of free-admission public programs designed to educate our community, celebrate our heritage, and explore the wide range of influences that affected early 20th century design. Our lectures attempt to re-examine cultural, historic, artistic, economic, social, and architectural influences upon Miami Beach and South Florida. Our film series offers opportunities to view classic films from the period, as well as contemporary films that feature the District. Other educational programs aim to use the buildings to tell three stories: the history of MDPL, the history of the city of Miami Beach, and the history of the buildings themselves.
